The IFA 2014 Emerging Franchisor Conference in Review
Conference hits the mark for attendees seeking management and operations tools.

More than 150 attendees met for the International Franchise Association’s Emerging Franchisor Conference in Dallas, Texas, Nov. 18-19. During the opening day, attendees heard from industry leaders on such topics as leveraging technology as a marketing tool, building community relations for PR success and the importance of collaboration to the success of a franchise system and its stakeholders, among others.
The day began with a keynote address on “World-Class Branding” from Warren Ellish, president and CEO of Ellish Marketing Group and senior lecturer, Cornell University, Johnson Graduate School of Management called. After multiple breakout sessions and general sessions, attendees came together in the evening for a networking reception with exhibitors and dinner.
Wednesday kicked off with more time to visit with exhibitors when attendees gathered for more interactive and informative general sessions, roundtable discussions and breakouts with a luncheon address, ”Lessons in Leadership” from Mary Kennedy Thompson, CFE, executive vice president and president, Mr. Rooter, The Dwyer Group discussing
The conference closed out with the fun, informative and entertaining session led by Dan Martin and modeled after the hit television show “Shark Tank.” It provided franchisors the opportunity to present their concepts and ultimately ask for advice from the panel of mentors/investors. At the end of the presentations, the panel distributed their “money”, as well as explained why they decided on each amount.
