The Dwyer Group announced that Jeff Moody, CFE, is the new managing director for Mr. Electric and Aire Serv in the United Kingdom. The electrical service and HVAC companies have more than 30 locations in the U.K.

Sbarro appointed Angela Hornsby to chief people officer. Sbarro also hired Eric Taylor to a newly created role of vice president of international franchise development, and has appointed Dave Gleason vice president of franchise development to lead the growth of franchisees in North America.
Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits turned 35-years-old this year. Today’s Bojangles’ has served millions of customers, experienced more than $10 billion in revenues since its inception and now operates 525 restaurants in 10 states and Washington, D.C.
Corner Bakery Cafe signed a franchise agreement to open its first restaurants in the Northwest United States beginning in 2013. Northwest Bakery Cafe, LP, a group of veteran restaurant operators who also own 95 Jack in the Box locations, plans to open 18 restaurants in and around Seattle over the next seven years.
Johnny Rockets unveiled its first restaurant in Indonesia at Bali’s upscale Beachwalk Kuta Beach open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complex. Earlier, the franchise unveiled its newest restaurant in the Philippines at upscale Harbor Point mall in the Subic Central Business District. The location marks the sixth restaurant opened by Johnny Rockets franchise partner Camamiq Foods since 2009.
Sport Clips Haircuts plans to expand into the Canadian markets of Ontario (Toronto area), British Columbia (Vancouver, Lower Mainland) and Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton).
Since January, Subway franchisees and development agents have been responsible for adding more than 1,500 new outlets worldwide, providing job and career opportunities to some 15,000 men and women around the globe. Nearly 700 of these new branches debuted across the United States and Canada while almost 900 opened in other international markets. As a result of these openings, so far in 2012 there are 37,000 locations worldwide, 25,000 U.S. outlets, 12,000 international locations and 2,800 Canadian branches. Among some of the country milestones are 1,300 restaurants in Australia, 900 in Brazil, 400 in Russia, and the chain’s first locations in Romania and Suriname. In the United States, milestones include 2,000 restaurants in Texas, and 1,200 in Illinois.

Cruise Planners – American Express Travel was again recognized by Travel Weekly, winning nine Magellan Awards for marketing, training and community programming. The awards honor the best in the travel industry and are bestowed upon travel organizations that represent the highest standards of excellence in hospitality.

Joe Francis, who built state-of-the-art hair salons and began franchising first as The Barbers Hairstyling for Men and Women, Inc., growing to 1,000 franchise salons worldwide, was inducted into the National Association of Barbers and Beauticians of America at the National Convention in Louisville, Ky. in September. He and his wife, co-founder, Flo Francis, who succeeded him in 1994 as chairman of the board of The Barbers, were inducted into IFA’s Hall of Fame in 1999, in recognition of their reputation and success. He died from cancer in 1994 and a scholarship foundation was established in his honor.
Meeting Expectations was named to Corporate Meetings & Incentives 2012 “CMI 25” list, the annual directory of the largest and most influential full-service meeting and incentive travel management companies focused on the corporate meetings and events industry, for the sixth consecutive year.
Firehouse Subs’ Lei Your Love On The Line video contest encouraged fans to proclaim their love for its new sandwich and submit 90-second videos for an opportunity to win a dream getaway to Hawaii. Sawyer Frye of Winston Salem, N.C. was the grand-prize winner, submitting a video, titled “Can’t Get Enough”, proclaiming his “burning” love for Firehouse Subs and its King’s Hawaiian Pork & Slaw sandwich.

CENTURY 21 Redwood merged with CENTURY 21 Adventure, to better serve homebuyers in the greater Washington, D.C. area, making the company one of the 10 largest CENTURY 21 franchises in the United States.
Flip Flop Shops and the Ayala’s Group announced a strategic partnership—forming AFFS, LLC—to develop a Flip Flop Shops location inside McCarran International Airport, scheduled to open in October in the D-Gates. The new shop will be the global lifestyle franchise’s first airport location.
Jersey Mike’s Subs announced a multiplatform partnership that makes the company an official partner and “Official Sandwich” of All American Games’ properties, including the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the country’s perennial high school all-star game, and Football University, a nationwide series of football training camps. The partnership kicked off Sept. 25 with the start of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour.
